The Maharashtra FDA suspended licences of six Mumbai eateries after inspections found serious food safety violations, including pest activity, poor sanitation, improper storage and hygiene lapses. The affected establishments include eateries in Kanjurmarg, Jogeshwari and Mulund. The FDA also directed organisers of bhandaras and community food events.

Mumbai cancer survivor Sayli Rane's five-year disease-free recovery after a 2021 stem-cell transplant has highlighted the need for more donors. DKMS has around three lakh potential donors registered across India, including 11,000 in Mumbai. A larger donor pool can improve matching prospects for patients without suitable family donors.

A 39-year-old man with Marfan syndrome underwent complex heart surgery at KIMS Hospitals, Thane, after severe enlargement of his aortic root caused major aortic valve leakage. Doctors performed a Bentall procedure to replace the damaged aortic root and valve and reconnect the coronary arteries. The patient recovered well and was discharged on the fifth postoperative day.

The Maharashtra Medical Council has made Know Your Doctor (KYD) QR-code plates mandatory for all registered doctors by October 31. Around 1.29 lakh doctors are yet to obtain the plates. The system aims to help patients verify doctors' credentials and curb fake medical practitioners, while some doctors have raised concerns.

Patients at Sion, KEM, Nair and Cooper hospitals are expected to get new MRI facilities within three months after BMC received four 3-Tesla machines. ESIS has sought empanelment of BMC-run HBT Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari East to provide secondary healthcare to its beneficiaries. The proposal could increase patient footfall at the civic facility, prompting concerns over manpower, infrastructure and costs. The hospital is yet to be formally empanelled, with approval subject to required formalities and terms.
