Real Madrid clearly haven’t had the best of starts to the season, as the club are still lagging behind Barcelona and have looked leagues off compared to their arch-rival. New coach Jose Mourinho has been unable to bring back cohesion to the Real Madrid unit, with the dressing room still rife with uncertainty and a […]

Associations among schema-related vulnerability, emotional experiences, subjective cognitive complaints, and perceived mathematics understanding remain insufficiently understood among university students in Mogadishu, Somalia. This cross-sectional study examined early maladaptive schemas (EMS), mathematics anxiety (MA), psychological distress (PD), perceived cognitive processing difficulties (P-CPD), and perceived conceptual understanding in mathematics (P-CUM) among 467 undergraduates from five universities. Concurrent self-report data were analysed using PLS-SEM with 5,000 bootstrap resamples. A reduced 27-item specification excluding EMS2 and PD8 served as the primary model, supplemented by demographic adjustment and a 29-item sensitivity specification. EMS was positively associated with MA (β = 0.698), MA with PD (β = 0.726) and P-CPD (β = 0.264), and PD with P-CPD (β = 0.548); P-CPD was negatively associated with P-CUM (β = − 0.371; all p < 0.001). MA → P-CUM (β = − 0.099, p = 0.091) and PD → P-CUM (β = − 0.058, p = 0.428) were nonsignificant in the primary model. After demographic adjustment, the MA association became significant but remained small, indicating specification sensitivity. All five hypothesized indirect coefficients were significant, but they represent statistical associations under one proposed ordering. PD and P-CPD remained borderline distinct (HTMT = 0.852), and common-method covariance could not be excluded. These findings do not establish temporal mediation or distinct successive psychological processes. Reverse, reciprocal, and alternative orderings remain compatible with the design. Interpretation is restricted to the participating sample and study-specific operationalisations; longitudinal, multi-source research with independently validated measures is needed before broader conclusions can be drawn.

Real Madrid are gearing up for their most important game of the season as they take on Barcelona in the season’s first El Clasico this weekend. Real Madrid will have an excellent opportunity to close the gap to Barça at the top by securing a win. But the club’s president Florentino Perez has already attracted […]

As we slowly approach the end of the year, Real Madrid have stepped up their efforts to keep hold of existing stars in the team. Although Real Madrid’s decision to renew the contract of Vinicius Jr. in the summer appears to have backfired, that hasn’t deterred the club from closing new deals for other players […]

Real Madrid handed Vinicius Jr a lucrative, long-term contract extension in the summer, rewarding a player who had been one of their standout performers in recent years. However, that decision is already being tested, with the Brazilian enduring a torrid start to the new campaign under Jose Mourinho. Vinicius has struggled badly for form and […]

Student self-determination is widely recognised as a critical factor in enhancing learning outcomes in higher education. Although prior research has identified key drivers of perceived self-determination, limited attention has been given to how teachers demonstrating transformational leadership behaviours interact with classroom- and institutional-level dynamics to shape students’ motivational driven learning processes. Grounded in Self-Determination Theory, this study examines the influence of transformational teacher leadership behaviours on student self-determination, with particular emphasis on the moderating roles of classroom climate and institutional support. In doing so, a sequencial explanatory mixed-methods research design was employed involving 436 undergraduate students. Quantitative data were collected from 420 participants using self-reported structured questionnaires, while qualitative insights were obtained from 16 participants through semi-structured interviews. The collected quantitative and qualitative data were then analysed through structural equation modelling and thematic analysis, respectively. The findings indicate that transformational teacher leadership is significantly associated with students’ perceived self-determination. Classroom climate also emerged as both a strong direct predictor and a significant moderating factor, enhancing the positive relationship between transformational teacher leadership and student self-determination. In contrast, institutional support did not demonstrate a significant direct or moderating effect. Qualitative findings further reveal that students’ motivation is primarily shaped by immediate classroom interactions, while institutional factors are perceived as more distant and less impactful. This study contributes to the literature by proposing a contextually grounded model of student self-determination that highlights the importance of proximal classroom dynamics over distal institutional conditions. It provides theoretical and practical insights into how teachers exhibiting transformational leadership behavioursand supportive classroom environments jointly foster students' self-determened learning motivation in higher education.

Real Madrid suffered a massive blow earlier in the day when the club had to confirm that Thibaut Courtois won’t be travelling with the squad to Barcelona due to a viral infection. It was confirmed that the player won’t be taking part in El Clasico, but Courtois was ready to do everything he can in […]
