Week one of the high school football season is in the books, and with that comes a better idea of what teams around the state will be this season.

RAVENWOOD, Mo. – The Northeast Nodaway Bluejays made it back-to-back wins over the Maryville Spoofhounds Thursday night. The Bluejays scored 10 runs in the second inning on their way to a 17-2 win.

ALBANY, Mo. – The Nodaway Valley Thunder were the victors Friday night, ending a week of oppressive heat with a 46-34 win over the Albany Warriors. The win puts the Thunder at 2-0 heading into conference play.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Maryville Spoofhounds and Sacred Heart Gremlins kicked off the Barstow Tournament third-place match early Saturday morning in hopes of avoiding the heat. But the hotter it got, the better the Spoofhounds played as they pulled away late in the match for a 4-1 win.

CONCEPTION JUNCTION, Mo. – The runs were abundant and came in heavy doses Tuesday night in a 275 Conference battle between Northeast Nodaway and Platte Valley. Platte Valley scored the final 14 runs of the game in its 17-10 win with the team officially on a winning streak with three-straight wins.

Spoofhound golf wins Central Invitational The Maryville Spoofhounds secured a tournament victory last week in St. Joseph.

GRANT CITY, Mo. – There's no margin of victory that would have washed away the taste of their week one loss. But the Worth County Tigers took a step toward feeling better with their 52-0 win over South Holt Friday night.

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Maryville Spoofhound tennis team had their first home dual of the regular season Wednesday evening at Northwest. For the Spoofhounds, there's been no easing into the 2026, opening regular season play with a 6-3 loss to the St. Pius X Warriors.

Two weeks ago, there was a sense of clarity in the 8-man community about what to expect this season. Through two weeks we've seen good football from the top of the state, but even the elite have shown that they are human.
