AIKEN — Citizens Park received its traditional autumn surge of pint-sized superheroes, creepy critters and colorful creations Oct. 24, as the municipal government held its annual trunk-or-treat event, with clear skies and low-70s temperatures as parts of the package.
Local boosters of The Upside of Downs, an organization benefiting people with Down syndrome and their families, gathered for an afternoon of fun Oct. 25, holding their annual Buddy Walk at USC Aiken.
AIKEN — Bright colors and cheerful racket were part of the afternoon atmosphere Sunday around USC Aiken's inner campus, with students and dozens of visitors on hand for the annual Buddy Walk, described in promotional material as "an avenue to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month and to promote acceptance and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in the CSRA."
This year's Dancing with the Aiken Stars event, held Oct. 22, brought in more than $320,000 in donations to support such organizations as Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons, Salvation Army and Aiken Center.
