While some of the other top names in the 2026 NHL draft class have spent years projected near the top of draft boards, Chase Reid has taken a much different path, steadily climbing rankings through strong play and rapid development. Thanks especially to a strong 2025-26 season, the right-shot defenseman now finds himself firmly in the discussion as one of the top players available in the draft. Standing around 6-foot-2 with high-end skating ability and legitimate offensive upside, Reid checks many of the boxes NHL teams look for in a modern defenseman. His combination of mobility, puck-moving ability, and offensive instincts has turned him into one of the most intriguing players in the class, even if there are still aspects of his game that require refinement.
