Later that day, I headed out to a high school graduation. Unfortunately, the graduate won't be getting a warm loaf of banana bread and will have to settle for a Chipotle gift card instead. But I had heard a buzz about a new way of announcing graduates this year. That they may be using an AI speaker. Fortunately, it was only a rumor. However, all this week, other schools that did choose to go that route got a teachable moment about how to screw up a recipe.

But you are really missing out if you haven't been watching foreigners coming to the US and trying United States things. Things that we take for granted. Like going to Target, or Costco, or Bass Pro Shops. The videos of awe-struck shoppers looking at the giant displays and the huge bottles of mayonnaise. It's a whole side of Insta-Tok that you really need to seek out.

Now, I know what you're thinking. “But what about Ivan Foley? Allegedly, it's the 25th anniversary of 9/11 this week. Which is weird. Because it's only 2012 in my mind. Not even late 2012. Early 2012. The kind of 2012 where I still think I should probably get around to seeing “The Avengers” and if I wait much longer, someone might spoil it for me. It's so 2012 in my mind, I keep waiting for the Royals to finally get over the hump and I'm hoping their pitching doesn't crumble every game.

This week started a significant countdown in the city. The death of the Truman Sports Complex is on the clock. Not the dramatic kind of clock, mind you. Not a digital bomb timer in a movie where a sweaty Liam Neeson starts growling into a cell phone. This is more of a Crock-Pot timer on “slow” mode. It'll get done eventually. And when it does get done, make sure your city still has money left.

I'm going to warn you up front, this is going to sound like an old person complaining about things that old people complain about. Like getting those kids off your front lawn because your hydrangeas are about to bloom. Or that sales tax used to be four cents for every dollar and now you're almost paying more in taxes than for the item. That type of stuff. Today's grievance: attending sporting events.

If you've lived in Kansas City for a while, this doesn't come as a shock to you. Another cattle truck overturned on I-70 this weekend carrying about 130 cattle. You know that stretch of I-70 where there is a sharp turn, flashing lights reminding people to drive 35 mph and that imaginary green flag that tells everyone to take the curve like it's Turn 3 at Talladega.
