BEAUREGARD — Explosive plays were the name of the game as Beauregard High School (0-2) allowed three 50-plus-yard touchdowns to LaFayette High School (1-1) during a 45-22 road defeat at Bulldog Stadium on Aug. 28.

SMITHS STATION — Despite being a first-year program, Glenwood School’s fledgling flag football team had no problem scheduling David-versus-Goliath matchups.

AUBURN — Opelika High School won a thrilling shootout over Lee-Scott Academy on Aug. 31, winning 3-2 at Samford Gymnasium. The Lady Bulldogs (2-2) won the second, third and fifth sets 25-21, 25-8 and 15-5, respectively, while the Lady Warriors (2-5) won the first and fourth sets 27-25 and 25-18, respectively.

AUBURN — The Sept. 1 Auburn City Council meeting abruptly ended nearly two hours after it began amid finger-pointing over who was to blame for the fallout surrounding the redevelopment of two aging apartment complexes.
