Judge William Sullivan issued the decision Thursday, stating that prosecutors had offered enough evidence for a jury to decide whether Clancy was criminally responsible for killing her three children — Cora, Dawson and Callan — in the basement of their Duxbury home.

According to the department, correction officers responded a report of self-harm in the behavior assessment unit at MCI-Norfolk Monday. Encarnacion died a short time later at a local hospital.

The Trial Court, which oversees Massachusetts courthouses, is considering a plan where attorneys would have to pass through the same courthouse security as the public.
