Pitches concerning law enforcement initiatives, updates on ongoing investigations or new developments in crime-related incidents are likely to pique his interest.

Derick also covers winter storms and highway safety issues relevant to the local community, so potential story angles could include expert insights into emergency preparedness for severe weather conditions or analysis of recent traffic safety measures.

Additionally, given his coverage of government & politics at a local level within Utah and Salt Lake City specifically, pitches providing unique perspectives on political events or policy decisions impacting the area may also resonate with him.
