Trade unions have been grappling with elections since before this newspaper was founded in 1900. This 1920 cartoon by Dust Wallen, cartoonist for the Industrial Workers of the World, lays out the need for working people to scrutinize candidates before casting their ballots. This union-focused ballot guide tries to keep it simple. It lists only campaigns that have at least one union endorsing them. Candidates who are running unopposed are not listed because this guide is meant to help voters choose between alternatives.
