Douglas County High School head football coach Johnny T. White and his staff got their team back to practice a couple of days after the Labor Day holiday weekend.

The couple behind Midnight Comics , a Black-owned comic book company, walked into Nubian Books, a Black-owned bookstore in Morrow, and handed the store's owner, Marcus Williams, a stack of fresh comics.

A greeting from The Courier Herald's new editor and publisher Donnell Suggs, who is excited to be returning to a part of the state that challenged him and changed his career like no other stop on a 20-year journey in journalism.

In Laurens County, participation in the early voting period -which ends on Friday, October 30- has been solid, if not spectacular to this point. After a week of early voting, nearly 10 percent of the county’s registered voters have cast ballots, according to data from the Office of Georgia’s Secretary of State.

The family-owned business, which first opened under co-owners, Christy Henry and her late mother, Maggie Calhoun, will turn 40 in April 2027. But there was no better time than now to give Henry her proverbial flowers for remaining in business for decades.
