St. Louisan Luther Burden III turned in a standout performance in the Chicago Bears' 30‑24 victory over the New England Patriots Thursday night in Chicago.

The men's soccer team at Harris-Stowe State University is enjoying an excellent season. The Hornets are in first place in the American Midwest Conference with a 2-0-1 record. Their record is 8-3-2 overall. Sophomore midfielder Benjamin Martinez has scored four goals, including a score in a 1-1 tie against Hannibal-LaGrange. Junior midfielder Dusan Drca was recently named the AMC Player of the Week. He scored two points in a 4-3 victory over Central Baptist. The Hornets also defeated Mararishi 1-0 on their senior day.

Sophomore Malia Tipton has enjoyed a successful season for the Ladue High girls tennis team. Tipton qualified for last weekend's state tournament in Springfield, where she finished fifth in the singles tournament. She advanced to the quarterfinals. After losing in that round, she responded by winning three consecutive matches to finish with a 4-1 record and fifth place. She was also a district champion in doubles with partner M.C. Huewe. Tipton and her Ladue team will be participating in the team competition at the state tournament in Springfield this weekend. The Rams will take on Rock Bridge in the semifinals on Thursday.

The East St. Louis Flyers have made themselves right at home in the Illinois Class 6A state championship game in recent years. Now, they're taking their championship ambitions up a notch.

The Saint Louis University Billikens open their college basketball season on Monday, November 2 against Lehigh. The Billikens are coming off one of their most successful seasons in 2026 when they won 29 games and won a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference championship. SLU advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. On Friday, Nov. 6, the Billikens will take on the Missouri Tigers at the Enterprise Center. Mizzou has a very talented team that is expected to be one of the best in the Southeastern Conference.

Former Principia basketball star Quentin Coleman is already turning some heads with his play during preseason games with the University of Illinois. The 6-foot-4 Coleman had 14 points, seven rebounds and eight assists in a victory at Cincinnati in the preseason opener. Last Friday, Coleman had 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block against Baylor. Coleman was the St. Louis American Player of the Year in 2026 after leading the Panthers to the Class 3 state championship.
