MONTANA — Montana is headed into an unsettled and generally cool final week of October. After a mostly quiet Sunday, rain and mountain snow will expand across the state Monday night into Tuesday, followed by a brief lull Wednesday before additional rounds of precipitation return late in the week.

BILLINGS — A quick-moving system brings showers and mountain snow tonight into Tuesday, followed by gusty winds. The rest of the week turns mainly dry with seasonable temperatures before another chance for unsettled weather develops late in the weekend.

BUTTE — Rain in Butte this evening. Temperatures are dropping into the mid-30s overnight, and the rain eases but stays in play through the overnight hours at around 80%, with a rain-snow mix possible as the cold air locks in behind the front.

Rain is moving in tonight as a storm system approaches from the southwest. A chance of showers this evening, climbing to near certainty overnight with around a tenth of an inch of rain expected for much of the area.

BILLINGS — Quieter, seasonable weather settles in Wednesday through Friday before another chance for unsettled weather develops this weekend into early next week.

We stay dry and quiet through Friday, then a Pacific system moves in this weekend. Showers arrive Saturday afternoon, followed by a more significant push of rain Sunday with rain chances near 80%.

BUTTE — Overnight, clouds break for some partial clearing with lows dropping into the upper 20s and wind chills in the mid 20s.

BILLINGS — A mainly dry and seasonable stretch continues through Friday before the pattern becomes more active this weekend. Rain and mountain snow chances begin increasing Saturday, followed by the potential for a cooler, wetter and windier storm system Sunday into Monday.

A fine fall forecast for now. The chance of rain and mountain snow increases by the end of the weekend.

BUTTE — A quiet and settled evening in Butte. Overnight, expect mostly cloudy skies and a cold night, with lows dipping into the upper 20s and a light wind chill pushing feels-like temps to the mid-20s by early Thursday morning.
