The D.A.R.E. program offered at Ed White Elementary School through the Eldridge Police Department achieved a rare honor recently. For the second year in a row, an Ed White sixth-grade student won first prize in the statewide D.A.R.E. essay contest.

At Eldridge’s Night Out event, held Aug. 4, Corporal Jacob Costas led a demonstration with Eldridge’s K9 officer, Marty. It was one of Marty’s final public appearances, as the K9 is set to be medically retired next month.
