Amritsar: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Mithu Singh Kahneke on Thursday submitted his explanation and sought forgiveness at the Secretariat of Akal Takht Sahib for meeting Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh, who had been declared “Guru-Dokhi and Khalsa Panth Virodhi” by Akal Takht Sahib on June 15, 2026.

Amritsar: Roop Kaur a female devote , who had earlier announced on social media that she would visit the Secretariat of Akal Takht Sahib at a time fixed by her own accord, today submitted a representation addressed to Jathedar Kuldip Singh Gargajj at the Secretariat.

Amritsar : Punjab Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Iqbal Singh was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants in Naushehra Pannuna village falling in the Tarn Taran district today. Confirming the unfortunate killing of ASI, SSP Tarn Taran Surinder Lamba said that ASI Iqbal Singh was going to Makhu of Ferozpur district on his motorcycle when he was targeted by unidentified bike borne assailants. Amritsar, October 12 – Twelve AAP sitting MLAs and three of its leaders were asked to appear at Akal Takht for alleged violation and wrong words used by AAP MLA Maninder Singh Giaspura from Payal constituency, which falls in the Ludhiana district.

Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura, who represents Payal in Ludhiana district, allegedly made false statements to the media outside the Secretariat of Akal Takht Sahib in the Darbar Sahib complex, claiming caste-based discrimination and he also used highly derogatory language against Sikh institutions and respected Sikh personalities.

Deceased with identified as Amit Sabharwal, a marketing professional, was allegedly killed by an accused who was constantly blowing his car horn, asking Amit to remove the parked scooter. This led to heated arguments. During the verbal altercation, the accused pumped six gunshots into Amit Sabharwal from point-blank range and escaped.
