The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was just 15 when he stabbed history teacher Vicki Williams in the head with a kitchen knife at Milford Haven School on February 5 this year. Swansea Crown Court heard the teen took the largest kitchen knife he could find from his home planning to use it on the teacher and spent the day “preparing himself” for the attack. Having carried the knife around in his rucksack all day he went into Mrs Williams' classroom in the humanities block at the end of the day, closing the door behind him, and engaged her in conversation. As he did so he produced the knife from the bag and stabbed the teacher to the top of the head. A struggle then ensued during which the teacher grabbed the knife and tried to disarm the boy, now 16, who was later arrested at a family member's home. Thursday's hearing included a statement read on behalf of Mrs Williams in which she said she had been on an "emotional rollercoaster" since the incident and she was unsure whether she would return to teaching. Matthew Roberts KC, for the defendant, said the boy has been making “excellent progress” while being held in secure youth accommodation and his behaviour was "out of character". The boy was cleared of attempted murder at an earlier trial but convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and had admitted possession of a knife. Judge Paul Thomas KC, said the schoolboy had "really wanted to hurt" his victim and passed a sentence of four and a half years in detention.
