CHICAGO—For decades, the NAACP has gone to court and combed the halls of Congress, defending and expanding voting rights for African-Americans. In its 117 years of existence, it has never been one to leave lobbying and pressure on elected officials to the racist corporate powers that have seen that as their exclusive domain.

DETROIT—Primary elections this week are reflecting a fighting mood across the country against the Trump agenda, with voters saying they are fed up with excuses and apologies from lawmakers who are not working for them. They see the billionaires getting away with everything while they pay for skyrocketing costs and lose both jobs and healthcare.

In almost every single way the Trump administration has been pursuing a policy benefitting billionaires at the expense of the working class, the mainstream media has fallen short of fulfilling its responsibility to keep the people informed.

DETROIT—Primary election results Aug. 4 showed corporate donors—as well as pro-Israeli government lobbyists—that it's not going to be easy for them to buy voters anymore. In many areas across the nation, and not just in deep-blue districts and states, mass movements beat corporate cash and manipulation by Democratic Party leaders determined to maintain a status quo that makes tweaks around the edges rather than institute the sweeping changes needed by the people.

MAGA seems to be growing more fearful that it is on track to lose the midterm elections and is taking steps almost daily to try to avoid defeat. The Senate Homeland Security Committee shamelessly voted along party lines Thursday to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci, a hero who many believe saved millions of lives during the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S. and around the world, in contempt of Congress.

One big corporate interest, cybercurrency, funded $20 million in unaccountable “dark money” into pro-Craig and anti-Flanagan ads. Various outlets report they've fallen flat.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—As the political primary season winds down, the battles between some in the so-called Democratic Party establishment who see the left as a threat to their control and progressives who want a strong and hard line pushed against the Trump agenda are very much the focus of coverage by the corporate media.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Democratic Socialist Angie Nixon won an upset victory over Alexander Vindman in the Aug. 18 U.S. Senate Democratic primary in Florida. Vindman had a 16-to-1 funding advantage over Nixon and the backing of the Democratic Party's national leadership but still lost by a wide margin, 56% to 44%.

Freedom Summer 2026 is a coalition of organizations that have come together to preserve the right to vote and democracy itself in the U.S. It includes almost every group that's engaged right now in the fight—labor unions and their allies, faith groups, community organizations, political parties, lawmakers, and so many others. The movement launched on Juneteenth and will continue through Election Day, Nov. 3.

Attempts by the media to divide the electorate in so many ways failed to materialize again this week as voters in Massachusetts defied alleged desires for generational change when it came to preserving the Senate seat of Ed Markey, 80, who has held it for 50 years. He soundly defeated Seth Moulton, 47.
