We could see a few stray showers Saturday, but most will stay dry. A warm-up is in store for the weekend as well.

The chance of rain will rise into Thursday, and on and off showers and thunderstorms look likely through the end of the work week as the front stalls across the region.

Though most of this rain is beneficial, we’ll still have to watch for isolated flooding issues thanks to passing downpours.

While tornadoes nor large hail are looking likely, strong winds within some storms, as well as torrential rain/localized flooding will be possible.

Friday will bring more pleasant weather; we’ll see warm high temps in the mid 70s-low 80s and low humidity as well.

Can the United States escape the slide toward an overextended empire?

As it stands, the FY27 NDAA will largely preserve a wasteful and broken defense industrial base. But it is important to acknowledge that this does not have to remain the status quo. Throwing more money at the defense industrial base may ostensibly seem like an easy solution, but a facade won't solve deeper structural flaws. Congress should take more time to critically evaluate the decision to spend over a trillion dollars on defense, make a greater attempt at serious structural reforms, and follow a regular order process for the defense budget to produce a strong political consensus.
