Keith Cowing

Hi Keith, A quick note while the base WiFi is up and running. We spent the last two days digging out the entrance to our hut, removing snow that migrated inside over the winter, and getting the snowmobiles and ATV running.

[astro-ph.IM] We present DragonflyPol, a wide-field optical linear polarimetry capability implemented on the Dragonfly Telephoto Array. DragonflyPol leverages Dragonfly's modular, multi-lens architecture to obtain simultaneous measurements in four linear polarization orientations (0 ∘ ∘ ∘ , and 135∘) across a ∼5deg2 field of view, distributed across 44 polarized lens–detector units.

The small Solar System bodies (SSSBs) preserve records of the formation and evolution of the Solar System. In particular, the near-infrared wavelength region around 3 μm provides crucial insights into the origin and transport of hydrated materials and organics, although it is difficult to observe from the ground because of strong telluric absorption.

[astro-ph.IM] Assessing possible life on an exoplanet requires spatial, spectral, temporal, and environmental context. We develop a covariance-aware Solar Gravitational Lens (SGL) framework for regional biosignature inference from reconstructed Einstein-ring measurements.

[astro-ph.EP] The knowledge of Titan's near-surface atmosphere is sparse. The Huygens descent probe measured winds, and the multiple dune field observations and possible dust storms suggest active near-surface dynamics.

Titan's upper atmospheric layers provide a unique opportunity to study how photochemistry, photoionisation, haze microphysics and escape processes shape its atmospheric chemical structure, providing a unique benchmark for understanding these processes in exoplanets.

International collaboration makes decades of satellite data more accessible to scientists studying global water cycle.

[SwRI] A Southwest Research Institute-led study used NASA's James Webb Space Telescope to examine ice grains streaming from interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS, just the third object from beyond our solar system ever identified.
