After a couple of weeks with virtually no rain, the Northland had 10 days from Aug. 30 to Sept. 8 where it did rain. During these days, thunder showers passed over, mostly at night, and spread the region with moisture. About 3-4 inches were recorded at many sites. As a variation from much of summer, the rain was welcomed.
The show will last a bit longer, but usually by the middle of October, the big leaf drop happens.
