In its second year benefiting Veterans Expeditions, the Monarch Crest Crank, a fundraising mountain bike ride on the Monarch Crest Trail, raised $7,175 Aug. 29.

A three vehicle crash occurred outside Villa Grove in Saguache County Sept. 5, with at least one person transported to the hospital. The crash occurred on U.S. 285 at mile post 104. State Patrol responded to the call at 8:37 a.m.

With a new division and mostly new team, the Salida High School boys’ soccer team knows nothing is guaranteed, but they are still aiming for the top, team leaders said.

The Salida High School boys’ soccer team, with a new starting lineup, is “extremely competitive” this year, coach Aaron Dobson said, and once again they aim to take state.
