Martin Lewis has issued a warning to couples who have hidden bank accounts. The Money Saving Expert gave his advice after the This Morning panel highlighted an article about a woman who has £3,000 in a hidden account from her partner, to act as “a buffer” if she ever needed it. Appearing on the show on Tuesday (9 September), the financial guru said that while he is “happy” with financial independence, couples should not hide debt from one another. Explaining this wasn’t the case in this example, he did warn: “Hidden debt does stick to the partner, even if they don’t know about it.”
