The museum reached an agreement with the city in 2024 to move into the old police station, and this spring, it closed its doors to begin the move. Now, museum officials say, the first phase of that move is well underway. Claudia Leister is the museum's curator.

Commission chair Kay Carnahan called the stage redesign “aspirational” and there are no announced plans to ask the city council for funding at this point. There is no estimate of how much the stage redesign could cost.
