"Jaws" and countless other shark movies have made people afraid to go in the water even though sharks are usually pretty harmless. Even though whales aren't chomping at the bit to consume human flesh, there's something equally terrifying about these leviathans. Of course, we can take solace in the fact that most whales don't have throats wide enough to swallow a human being whole. However, there are a few exceptions, most notably sperm whales, the animal at the center of the new film "Whalefall," based on the 2023 book of the same name by Daniel Kraus.

Following the massive success of "Barbie," Looper made a list of predictions of what toy-centric movies we wanted to see next. And on that list was none other than Matchbox, which has finally come to fruition.

"You Can See Everything" is already being touted as a monumental achievement of documentary filmmaking. The film currently holds a perfect 100% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, as the three-hour odyssey observes comedian Nathan Fielder as he lives with Elizabeth Holmes in the month leading up to her stint in prison. Holmes infamously defrauded investors with her startup company Theranos, claiming to have a device that could run numerous blood tests at once when it actually couldn't do anything. If you saw the ending of the miniseries "The Dropout," you know Holmes was arrested, but what is she up to now?

The original "Street Fighter" film from 1994 occupies a fascinating space within the history of video game movies. Critics weren't kind to the film, as it stands with a paltry 20% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. However, many fans have come around to the film in the decades since the release, and Looper even ranked it as one of the top five

Going into "You Can See Everything," audiences were probably expecting to see an unstoppable force (Nathan Fielder's deadpan comedy designed to blur the lines between reality and fiction) and an immovable object (Elizabeth Holmes'warped perception of what really went down with Theranos). But the one thing most seemed caught off-guard with is Holmes'partner and father of her children, Billy Evans, being so chilling and manipulative.

DC Studios is taking a big swing with "Clayface." Only two other movies have been released so far: "Superman" and "Supergirl." Both of those make sense for fleshing out this new universe, but "Clayface" is a massive departure. Rather than making a straightforward Batman movie, we're getting an R-rated horror flick following one of the dark knight's most fascinating villains; a figure who's been sorely lacking in terms of big-screen adaptations.

Batman movies tend to utilize the same villains. Joker, Catwoman, Riddler, and Bane have all been seen multiple times. They're always fun to see, but Batman easily has one of the best rogues' gallery in all of fiction, with plenty of villains waiting for their chance in the spotlight. Among them is Clayface, one of Batman's most tragic villains ever.

"American Dad" has quietly held it down as one of the most consistently funny adult animated comedies around, but it doesn't always knock it out of the park. And there are plenty of "American Dad" episodes to skip on a rewatch where you won't be missing any important character moments or hilarious jokes.

Whether you're into superheroes, horror, fantasy, or animated movies, 2027 is going to be a great year for you. There are offerings from both Marvel and DC that will undoubtedly change the course of their respective cinematic universes forever. Plus, we see the return of such beloved franchises as The Lord of the Rings, Shrek, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
