Schools in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have sounded the alarm, saying that the National Lotteries Commission has not honoured its commitment to them as part of the NLC’s “good causes” funding mandate. The National Lotteries Commission allocates a portion of the National Lottery revenue to non-profit organisations, schools and sports clubs to develop their facilities, giving out an average grant of R336,000. The schools say they are still awaiting the second payment tranche more than a year later.
