After nearly 50 years in journalism, I’ve learned that not everyone appreciates what we publish. That includes elected officials, business leaders and sometimes our own readers. It’s part of the job. And that’s okay.
Southern California is known for its freeways, and the 210 Freeway at Base Line Road is no exception. Commuters hurrying home fill these roads during rush hour as the sun sets in the west. The weather will feel like summer through the weekend, with high temperatures reaching nearly 90 degrees. Temperatures are expected to drop next week as a fast-moving, wet storm front moves through the Claremont area Tuesday and Wednesday.
I still remember going to Village Venture with my parents in its early years, meeting and greeting community members as they walked by. It was almost a rite of passage in our family. Back in the 1980s, when Village Venture was just a few years old, promoting the Courier was as simple as showing up and talking to people.
