P rime Minister Philip Davis yesterday touted a nearly $40 million surplus for the 2025/2026 fiscal year — the first recorded in an independent Bahamas — as proof of his government's prudent fiscal management over the past five years.

P arliamentarians in the House of Assembly yesterday passed the Anti-Terrorism (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis said closes a gap between “what The Bahamas has committed to internationally and what our law is able to deliver”.

P arliamentarians approved a resolution in the House of Assembly on Wednesday authorizing the government to borrow $331.82 million to refinance the debt of the Grand Bahama Power Company (GBPC), a move Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis said is not intended to add new debt or authorize new spending.

White House press secretary Katie Zacharia is “transitioning out” of her role, multiple sources and a senior White House official told ABC News on Friday.

When asked about the government's budget for the visit of King Charles III, who is scheduled to arrive today, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fred Mitchell did not provide a figure, but said it is an “appropriate” sum and will not “break the bank”.

Asserting that the Hawksbill Creek Agreement (HCA) brings “many” benefits to The Bahamas, former Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce President Dillon Knowles said yesterday that repealing the agreement would harm not only Grand Bahama, but also the rest of the country.
