The Union Government has advanced the population enumeration schedule for Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and the non-snow-bound areas of Uttarakhand, according to a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 5, 2026.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Women's Wing on Saturday staged a massive district-level protest outside the SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) office in Samrala against the alleged assault and humiliation of an elderly Dalit woman at a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) office. Thousands of women participated in the protest, which was led by AAP Women's Wing Punjab President and Moga MLA Dr. Amandeep Kaur Arora. Ludhiana Mayor Principal Inderjit Kaur and several other women leaders also joined the demonstration.

On Teachers' Day, former Delhi Education Minister and AAP Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia interacted with over 200 government school teachers in Hoshiarpur, putting Punjab's education transformation at the centre of the discussion. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal slammed BJP leaders, saying that it is extremely unfortunate that opposition parties, especially the BJP, are not refraining from doing politics over the dead bodies of people in Punjab. He said that BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon and other leaders going to village Toor Banjara and staging a drama over the death of a poor man, Gulzar Singh, reflects their vulture-like mentality, which keeps wandering in search of flesh and dead bodies. They have no agenda for the betterment of Punjab. However, the BJP leaders faced people's anger there and were shown black flags, people did not allow them to enter the village.

Villagers in Toor Banjara, Sangrur, today chased away BJP leaders who reached the village, delivering a blunt message to the BJP that its divisive politics has no place in Punjab. Reacting sharply to the development, Punjab AAP State General Secretary (Organisation) and Media In-charge Baltej Pannu said the BJP's attempt to play the caste card in Punjab had once again met with a strong public rejection. He said Punjab would never allow the BJP to replicate the Jat–non-Jat politics played in Haryana.

BJP leaders were chased away by villagers in Toor Banjara, Sangrur, when they reached the village over the death of Gulzar Singh, with villagers surrounding Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and raising slogans against him. On this,senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia said that the development has exposed, they said, the BJP's attempt to exploit the pain of a poor Dalit family for political gains.
