T he Rhode Island Folk Festival is one of the last concerts of the season and its taking place on August 30 at Crescent Park in East Providence with a variety of performances will be occurring on multiple stages. The lineup includes Cranston native Mark Cutler, John Cowsill from The Cowsills, Vicki Peterson from The Bangles, the Anchors Away Brass Band, Clay Camero and many others. Another act who will be taking part is the Eugene, Oregon alt-rock singer-songwriter Tracy Bonham on the Bandshell Stage at 3pm.

EAST PROVIDENCE – With Labor Day being the unofficial end of summer, there's always plenty happening during the weekend leading up to it. These may range from backyard barbecues to massive outdoor events, and there's going to be a gathering taking place on Saturday, Sept. 5, that walks the fine line between both atmospheres. It's called Riverside Indie Fest, and the second edition is once again happening at Crescent Park in East Providence.

Southern Rhode Island music fans will say goodbye to summer this weekend with the annual Rhythm & Roots Festival, which takes place today, Saturday and Sunday at Ninigret Park in Charlestown. One of the event’s marquee performers this year is the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which takes the Rhythm Stage Sunday night from 6:40-8:10 p.m.
