I t was a big night for Mary Persons football. The Bulldogs bounced back from the previous week's loss with an impressive victory over a quality opponent, heading into the bye week with a 2-1 record and plenty of momentum.

The Mary Persons Lady Bulldogs continued their strong season with a dominant 13-0 victory over Crawford County on Tuesday, adding another win to a week that also included two region forfeit victories over Howard. The Bulldogs now stand at 12-5 overall and 6-0 in Region 2-4A, putting them in a tie for first place in the region standings.

The ACE Gryphons continued their perfect start to the 2026 season Friday night, using a pair of 100-yard rushers and another strong performance from quarterback Ace Hatcher to defeat Southwest 35-14 at home.

Several familiar names to Mercer football fans were wearing different uniforms as the college football season got underway, with several former Bears making immediate contributions at their new schools.

The Mount de Sales Cavaliers continue to turn back the clock under head coach Robert Slocum.

While the 2026 Mercer Bears are still writing the story of what their season will look like, one thing was clear. The Presbyterian Blue Hose, who gave the 2025 Bears a wake-up call last season with a 15-10 upset at Five Star Stadium, would not leave Macon this year with a win.

After two road games and an off week, the defending GIAA Class 4A state champion Stratford Eagles finally got an opportunity to play in front of their home crowd Friday night.
