The 2026 Pro Motocross season continues to deliver twists and turns. This weekend's round at Unadilla MX was the ninth race of the campaign and Round 26 of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship, and it provided yet another change in the overall standings. Jett Lawrence captured his fourth win of the season and reclaimed the 450SMX Class points lead along with it. In the 250SMX Class, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing's Cole Davies also claimed his fourth win and moved within a single point of reclaiming the championship lead.

For the first time all summer Mother Nature played a central role in the outcome of the action at the penultimate race of the Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, from Budds Creek Motocross Park. Heavy morning rains set the tone for a challenging afternoon that remained free from rainfall at Round 27 of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship, where a wet and muddy track eventually transitioned into a competitive racing surface as the sun emerged at the Yamaha Racing Budds Creek National Presented by Carter CAT. In the premier 450SMX Class, Honda HRC Progressive's Hunter Lawrence [#96] put forth a dominant performance to capture his sixth win of the season and reclaim control of the points lead, setting up a winner-take-all showdown at the season finale with his teammate and brother, Jett Lawrence [#1]. In the 250SMX Class, a day that saw a dramatic shift atop the point standings also welcomed the summer's seventh different winner as Honda HRC Progressive's Chance Hymas [#29] prevailed to set a new record of parity in the smaller displacement and give Honda a sweep of the day's victories.

Cooper Abbott was in Southern California for the Big Bear GP, so we took the opportunity to get together with him for a photo shoot and a quick interview.

“That bike was just a beast!” remembers Quinn Cody, just shaking his head. The subject was the 2007 KTM 690 Factory Baja bike. “It was one of the most powerful factory bikes ever raced in Baja. It was a fun bike to ride, but no fun at all to race.”

The AMA Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, came to a historic conclusion at Ironman Raceway where, for the first time, a trio of champions were crowned at the season finale. Perfect weather conditions and the largest crowd ever in the event's 13-year existence were on hand for the U.S. Army Ironman National Finals Presented by Tucker Freight Lines, the 28th and final round of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship regular season. One of the sport's most compelling storylines in more than five decades headlined the day as the Australian siblings from Honda HRC Progressive, Hunter Lawrence [#96] and Jett Lawrence [#1], came in separated by a single point. After an uncharacteristically unpredictable afternoon of 450SMX Class racing, it was Hunter who endured through adversity to prevail with his first premier class title and the prestigious Edison Dye Cup.

The Dynamite Grand Prix, held at Cache Valley MX Park in Preston, Idaho, was a massive collaborative weekend of off-road racing co-sanctioned by five major West Coast racing organizations: WORCS, NGPC, Grassroots Off-Road, SIDRA and UMORA.

The 16th Annual Red Bull Tennessee Knockout (TKO) wrapped up at the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie, Tennessee this weekend. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Manuel Lettenbichler completed a flawless clean sweep, winning every single stage of the Pro Class competition to secure his fourth career TKO victory and his third consecutive win at the event.

Jeffrey Herlings secured his sixth FIM Motocross World Championship over the weekend at the MXGP of Türkiye in Afyonkarahisar, wrapping up the title with two rounds remaining. It marks his third premier MXGP title (adding to his 2018 and 2021 crowns) and his first championship with the Honda HRC PETRONAS squad aboard the CRF450RW.
