Two area football teams remain ranked in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association high school rankings. Both Piedmont (3-0) and Collinsville (2-0) hold steady at their No. 4 and No. 7 positions in Class 2A respectively.

CENTRE – The Cherokee County Lady Warriors split a volleyball tri-match at home on Tuesday. They lost to Bremen (Ga.) 21-25, 25-21, 10-15 but rebounded to take a 25-17, 25-19 win over Sand Rock to improve to 16-7 on the season.

SPRING GARDEN – The Spring Garden Lady Panthers swept an area volleyball match with Cedar Bluff on Tuesday. The scores were 25-14, 25-17, 25-16.

Three county football teams are having their homecoming this week: Cherokee County, Sand Rock and Spring Garden. Our teams usually fare well on homecoming, and I'm banking on that to help me get my head above water when it comes to picking this season.

ANNISTON – Spring Garden swept a volleyball tri-match at Donoho on Thursday. The Lady Panthers defeated Donoho 25-23, 25-21, then rallied past Weaver 22-25, 25-19, 15-13 to improve to 12-6 on the season.
