Motorcycling in a city like Chicago is a different discipline from riding anywhere else. Lake Shore Drive in summer looks like freedom, and it can be, but the same road that draws riders out also puts them next to distracted commuters, rideshare vehicles cutting across lanes, and doors swinging open from parked cars on Michigan Avenue. Illinois recorded hundreds of motorcycle fatalities last year, and the majority involved another vehicle. Riders don't just need skill. They need preparation.
