Forget dusty museums. We have receipts, broken chargers, plastic bags, VHS tapes, sneakers, screenshots, and the mysterious Tupperware lid with no matching container. "Modern Relics" invites artists to explore the everyday artifacts of contemporary life—subjects we use, love, hoard, worship, discard, or somehow refuse to throw away. Think: of the things that will be discarded, outdated or irrelevant in the future. Juror Vallo Riberto is an American independent art curator, educator and fine artist based in San Diego, California. Best known for his extensive academic career and avant-garde art curations, he served as the Director of the Southwestern College Art Gallery and has curated prominent exhibitions across Southern California. Riberto’s foundational knowledge spans studio arts and extensive art history. His academic pedigree includes training at some of the most prestigious art institutions in the United States. George Frideric Handel - "Messiah" A beloved tradition returns as voices unite for Handel’s "Messiah"—a festive celebration of choral joy, community spirit, and holiday cheer. The power of choral music takes center stage in this moving and festive experience, ushering in the holiday season with a resounding ‘Hallelujah!' Running from September 11th through October 18th, 2026 at venues across San Diego County, TuYo invites audiences to experience this heartfelt and inspirational story based on the playwright's real-life experiences working as a youthcare worker at the San Diego Convention Center in 2021. “Our Lady of the San Diego Convention Center" is Vega’s second world premiere production with TuYo, the first being the immersive musical “Pásale Pásele.” The production also follows TuYo’s “Everything You Need To Know About Abortion In One Hour Or Less,” an educational story about women’s reproductive rights, and the spooky and immersive sold-out run of “La Llorona On The Blue Line.” TuYo Theatre is excited to collaborate with Casa Familiar Vega’s "Our Lady of the San Diego Convention Center" centers the honest experiences of immigration with care and humor, capturing the stories of these migrant girls and encouraging audiences to have a conversation about not just migration, but the consequences of borders on children and our responsibility as human beings to take care of each other.
