In Short : India is expected to finalise its critical minerals stockpiling policy within a month, according to Mines Secretary Keshav Chandra, as the government seeks to protect strategic industries from supply disruptions and reduce import dependence. The proposed reserve would support sectors including defence, aerospace, advanced electronics, electric vehicles and renewable energy. The policy is expected to define how minerals are stored and released, including eligible recipients and quantities. The government is also developing four mineral processing parks to strengthen domestic value addition.
