Wednesday finally puts an end to the stretch of record October warmth. Showers become increasingly widespread during the morning, with scattered thunderstorms mixed in as we head through the afternoon. There may be some breaks in the rain, but this is definitely a day where having the umbrella nearby makes sense. Highs reach around 80 degrees with light winds around 5 mph gradually turning more northerly. Some thunderstorms could produce locally heavy downpours, but widespread severe weather is not expected.

Sunshine returns across central Indiana, but do not let the bright sky fool you into expecting much warmth. Highs only reach the middle 50s this afternoon, making this one of the chilliest days we have had so far this fall. North to northeast winds run around 5–10 mph. At least the wind will be considerably lighter than Friday, and with completely dry conditions, it should still be a decent day outdoors if you dress for it.

Once the sun goes down, temperatures are going to drop in a hurry. Clear skies, dry air and nearly calm winds create an ideal setup for widespread frost toward Sunday morning. Lows fall into the lower to middle 30s around Indianapolis, while some communities north and east of the city could briefly fall below freezing. A Frost Advisory covers much of central Indiana, with a Freeze Warning farther north and east. Sensitive plants that are still outside will need some protection tonight.

It is a cold start across central Indiana with widespread frost around through roughly 9 a.m. A Frost Advisory remains in effect through the morning, so sensitive vegetation may still need some protection early. Once we get past the chilly start, sunshine takes complete control and temperatures recover into the lower to middle 60s. Winds stay light before becoming southerly around 5 mph during the afternoon. It is definitely jacket weather to start, but Sunday becomes a pretty nice fall day once we get into the afternoon.

Clear skies and dry air allow temperatures to fall quickly again after sunset. Lows settle into the upper 30s around Indianapolis with southeast winds around 5 mph becoming nearly calm overnight. Some of the colder communities north of the city could see another touch of patchy frost toward Monday morning, but conditions should not be as cold or widespread as what we dealt with early Sunday.

A chilly start gives way to another beautiful fall afternoon across central Indiana. Some patchy fog may briefly develop in low-lying areas around sunrise, but it should disappear quickly. From there, expect plenty of sunshine with highs reaching the lower 70s. East to southeast winds remain very light around 5 mph. With dry air and almost no wind to deal with, Saturday should be an excellent day to get outside.

A few clouds may hang around during the evening before skies gradually turn mostly clear overnight. Temperatures fall into the middle to upper 40s around Indianapolis with east to southeast winds around 5 mph or less. Some patchy fog could develop toward Sunday morning in the usual low-lying and sheltered locations, but otherwise this is a completely quiet night.

From there, expect plenty of sunshine with highs reaching the lower to middle 70s. Winds remain exceptionally light, generally around 5 mph or less. If you have plans to take advantage of the fall color or just spend some time outside, there really is not much weather getting in the way.
