The Jerusalem Mill Village is a historic, iconic spot along the Little Gunpowder Falls River and one of the state's oldest and best-preserved mill villages. The property carries more than 300 years of history and serves as the headquarters of Gunpowder Falls State Park and the Maryland Park Service. Its story begins long before the United States existed. In 1687, a 318-acre tract called Jerusalem was patented; by the mid-1700s, the land had grown into a productive site. In 1769, Quaker millwright Isaiah Linton and miller David Lee partnered to build a merchant gristmill. Completed in 1772 and known as Lee's Merchant Mill, it ground flour under the “White Silk” label and shipped much of it to the Caribbean. The mill became the heart of a small Quaker village complete with a blacksmith shop, cooperage (sometimes called the gun shop for its possible Revolutionary War work), general store, mansion, and other structures that still stand today.

When the Affordable Care Act was sold to the American people, the promises were enormous. Health care would become more affordable. Americans were told that if they liked their doctor and health plan, they could keep them. Sixteen years later, Maryland families are paying more and more for health insurance, and health care costs are becoming unaffordable.
