If you are in a jungle, there are reasons to be cautious. Wild animals lurk about. There is a sense of danger if you let your guard down. And if you are in a typical high school, it can be a similar experience.

There is a quote that says, "Beside every great man is a great woman." While jolly ole' St. Nick gets the limelight, Mrs. Claus plays an important part in bringing holiday cheer. Mrs. Claus' role will be in the spotlight this weekend when the Greenville Area Recreation and Community Center and the Hans Christensen Andersen Theater group bring to the stage "Dear Mrs. Claus." With a cast of 13 5-to-8-year-olds, the 45-minute production ranks high on the cuteness factor.

The two families were visiting the Montcalm Heritage Village Festival for the first time over the weekend, having seen signs advertising the festival.

Harrison Rose Tate had never heard of Greenville, Michigan, until recently. The author, who resides in California, was one of the many vendors who set up shop in the Artisan Fair & Boutique on Lafayette Street during the Danish Festival. With a table of books and a small couch with warm, fuzzy blankets and a chandelier hanging from her tent posts, all giving that hygge feeling, Tate was named the Best of Show in the juried entries.

This is the first year that Jason Harris is experiencing the Danish Festival. It also marks first time he enjoyed an authentic Danish hot dog. Harris, originally from Los Angeles, was at Flat River Brewing’s Hygge lager release party at the Danish Cultural Center, a fundraiser that helped to kick off the celebration of the 62nd annual festival. He and his wife Shelly, now Greenville residents, were two of a steady stream coming to the Cultural Center to enjoy the Danish food, drinks and live music in the restored historic building.

The children gathered around the table, quickly building cars from Duplo, the larger version of the Danish Lego bricks. The idea for the Danish Duplo Dash was to make a car that would race down the derby car track against two other cars, seeing which one would go the farthest and not fall apart. The idea was a new addition to the Hans Christian Andersen Park, an area set aside especially for kids’ play during the Danish Festival.
