FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - As is often the case around here when tropical systems are involved, a once sunny weekend can quickly turn into a cloudy one.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - We didn’t hit a record with today’s highs in the mid 80s. However, Tuesday’s record is 84º (set back in 1975) and forecast guidance suggests Fort Wayne will get to 85º conservatively.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A series of fronts will slowly knock temperatures down from today’s record-breaking 80s to the end-of-week highs in the 50s.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Much of Thursday will be mostly cloudy and calm with highs in the low to mid 60s, but an approaching front is expected to increase rain chances Thursday evening into Friday morning. There could be enough instability around for an isolated thunderstorm/pockets of heavy rain, but the severe risk is overall as low as you’d expect it to be in mid October!

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) -The front that will keep temperatures down for a couple of days is on its way through the area, bringing scattered rain through the overnight hours and gusty conditions all day Friday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Tonight will be the most fall-like night of the season so far! Scattered lake-effect rain showers will come to an end by mid-evening, followed by clearing skies and dropping temperatures. There will be enough of a wind chill that it will feel like the 30s to low 40s before midnight!

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - I call the weather pattern we’ve been in since the weekend “expensive,” because it’s about as perfect as it gets all year long, and if it had a price tag it’d break the bank!

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Though clear skies will be the dominant theme between now and the weekend, a light breeze off of Lake Erie could increase the humidity enough overnight to introduce patchy fog to parts of the area, especially Northwest Ohio. Visibility could briefly fall to a mile or less, but will rebound by midmorning at the latest. Highs will still make it close to 70º.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - We could see a couple more foggy mornings as light easterly winds scoop moisture off Lake Erie and spread it westward into Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio. While widespread visibility issues are not expected, there could be spots reduced to a mile or less.
