FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Outside of some isolated showers/downpours this evening, our predominately dry weather pattern will continue overnight into Friday with highs back near 80º.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - We gave you the “Pumpkin Spice Watch” Friday of last week in anticipation for some fall-like mornings, and that forecast has held true!

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - We’ve issued a First Alert Weather Day for the second half of the day Wednesday due to an incoming cold front that could bring scattered severe thunderstorms to the area.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A muted version of the heat dome that brought hot and muggy conditions to the area at the end of June and early July is back. Highs Tuesday are expected to climb into the upper 80s to low 90s with sky-high humidity. It looks less likely that the heat index exceeds 100º Tuesday afternoon versus Wednesday afternoon, so for that reason the First Alert Weather Day remains in effect for just Wednesday.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Though there will be some relief from the heat after sunset, lows are still only expected to reach the mid 70s. Wednesday will be another hot day with highs in the 90s and heat index values over 100º. As a result, our First Alert Weather Day continues Wednesday, primarily from 1-7p during the heat of the day.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The worst of the heat will be behind us after sunset, but Thursday is still expected to be a hot and muggy day with highs in the low 90s and heat index values near 100º. We could exceed that number for an hour or two tomorrow, but I believe most of the area will avoid hours on end of the most intense heat, like the past couple of days.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Whew! It was another unseasonably hot day across the area as the ridge of high pressure to our south stays persistent. This is in spite of forecast guidance that suggested a much quicker breakdown of the ridge and a better chance for rain.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Labor Day weekend ended on a much drier note than it started, but the humidity is about to briefly return.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A front is slowly working its way through the area, though the humidity is slow to move out. Outside of a few scattered showers, overnight lows will remain on the warmer side in the upper 60s to low 70s.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Another cold front is on its way through the area, and while it’s moisture starved, it’s not absent of moisture. Therefore, we’ve introduced some widely scattered chances for rain over the weekend.
