Like most of us, Panikos Teklos learned to ride a bicycle as a child. Unlike the majority, however, he later took up structured road cycling, after a friend in London introduced him to triathlon in 2006. “That experience marked the beginning of my structured road cycling training and a much deeper engagement with the sport,” he says. Having dedicated himself to serious training and competition for 20 years, he now cycles for eight to ten hours at weekends and for another three during the week. And he’s not alone.
