The effort to place a data center measure on the ballot has fallen short of the required number of signatures, the county Planning and Zoning (P&Z) commission said this week.

VERMILION — During Monday night’s meeting, the City of Vermillion’s Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Commission made progress on data center ordinances but didn’t enact a moratorium.

The Yankton County Commission has taken the first step toward enacting a proposed county half-cent sales tax that would be used to reduce taxes on owner-occupied properties.

The 2026 Wagner Labor Day committee consists of Jeremy Leibel, Chance Blaha, Dawson Lensing, Preston Nedved, Kelby Kafka, Stephanie Cournoyer, Jazmyn Soukup, Courtney Hanson and Tony Bruguier. This year’s celebration starts today (Friday) and runs through Monday. The group is standing in front of a sign recognizing past Labor Day committee members.
