The City of Valparaiso released the following information about its upcoming annual leaf collection: Valparaiso’s annual leaf collection begins on Monday November 2 through December 4, weather permitting. Valparaiso City Services crews will rotate through the city’s four collections zones. You may identify your zone at bit.ly/3W0hySm. Residents can help keep leaf collection running smoothly by following these guidelines: Rake leaves to the curb area within the public right-of-way, not into the street. LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Rieth-Riley Construction Co Inc has lane closures on U.S. 35 between State Road 39 and U.S. 20 today, October 27 through the end of the week for remaining construction tasks related to the resurfacing project this year. U.S. 35 is reduced to one lane where work is occurring with flaggers directing traffic. Motorists should be prepared for travel delays or consider seeking alternate routes. Earlier this week, personnel from the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office conducted a compliance check on registered sex offenders. The annual compliance check is completed in advance of Halloween and Trick-or-Treat activities that will take place in communities across La Porte County this upcoming weekend. No violations were identified during the compliance checks, with no registered sex offenders found to be non-compliant. These checks were conducted in addition to the routine compliance checks required for the 211 registered sex offenders in La Porte County.
