Chnadigarh: While presiding over the first meeting of the Sankalp Society, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini directed the implementation of a resolution to make Haryana drug-free and protect youth from drug abuse. People said “Pehle Punjab was declared ‘udta', now Haryana too ‘udne' laga hai with the fast increasing cases of drugs smuggling and addiction among youths”. While presiding over the first meeting of the ‘Sankalp Society' on Tuesday in which heads of various departments participated, chief Minister Nayab Saini stated that the government's priority is to protect youth from the clutches of drug abuse, along with taking action against drug traffickers. The Haryana government has formed the ‘Sankalp Society' to prevent drug abuse and its trade and rehabilitate victims.

Karnal: The properties of former President Bhagwan Singh Gill and Manager Meenu Khanna of New Karnal Cooperative Multi-purpose Society were Seized, allegedly involved in fraud of 160 account holders in connection with a 2.14 crore rupees in loan and deposit embezzlements case. The order has been issued to seize the properties. The members were cheated in loans and deposits from the public. The order was issued by Aditi Sanger, Assistant Registrar of the Cooperative Societies Office, under Section 111 of the Haryana Co-operative Societies Act, 1984, in connection with the embezzlement that occurred in 2023. Departmental investigation found both accused responsible for the embezzlement. According to the department, they had the authority to form multi-purpose societies including education, transport, fertilizer and seed selling societies, but instead defrauded 160 account holders by forming a bank society.

Panipat: Chemical waste in drains flowing despite crackdowns on industrial pollution. The administration took strict action against several industrial units in the textile town Panipat few months ago, but the situation is still turning bad to the worst. This poisonous water is reaching the Yamuna River, a cause for concern since people as well as animals are using the same. Strict measures were taken to curb industrial pollution, including raids, sealing of factories and imposing environmental compensation. However, the problem of chemical-laden waste reaching Drain No. 2 has not been completely eradicated.

Panchkula: Facts that should have been made public in the Manisha's death case have not yet been revealed so far. Hearing in the case continued for about three and half hours on Thursday in CBI court. The court reserved its decision until October 28th after hearing arguments from both sides in the protest petition filed by Manisha's father Sanjay during arguments on the Objection Petition regarding the death of 19-year-old teacher Manisha, a resident of Dhani Laxman. Advocate Harsh Mohan Singh, former Deputy Legal Advisor of the CBI, representing Manisha's father, raised questions about the closure report filed by the CBI in the special court.

The possibility of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Haryana has increased, marking the completion of two years of the BJP government in Haryana. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini recently met with the Prime Minister and invited him to Haryana. The state government wants the Prime Minister to attend this important event. However, official information regarding the date and location of the visit is still awaited from the Prime Minister's Office.

Meham (Rohtak): Shocking revelation in the case of assault on a 4-year-old girl in which Police arrested the parents in connection with the sexual assault. Police claim that the girl was sexually assaulted by her father, while the mother, despite knowing about the incident filed a false complaint accusing another person to protect her husband. On Saturday, the SIT produced both accused in the Meham court, where they were remanded to five-day police custody. The girl has been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). On September 16, a woman complained to the police that her four-year-old daughter studied in a private school.She made a complaint on September 15, at around 2 p.m., the girl returned home from school with swelling in her private parts. According to the woman, when questioned, the girl revealed that a boy from the school had taken her to a room on the pretext of giving her biscuits. The boy allegedly taped her mouth and sexually assaulted her there.

Shahabad (Kurukshetra): Two encounters took place between police and drug smugglers in Shahabad, in which one of the accused, Gaurav was arrested and another, Sanju, was apprehended during the encounter after being shot by police. Police recovered 200 gms. drug of value worth 40 lakh rupees in two encounters with drug smugglers. During the encounter, one accused was injured, while another was arrested. Two encounters took place between drug smugglers and police in Shahabad from late Monday night to Tuesday morning. In the first encounter, the police arrested one of the accused, Gaurav, while the other, Sanju, escaped into the fields after firing at the police team.

Rohtak. Six industrial units in Rohtak district face the threat of closure and sealing due to failure to provide data as per the prescribed standards for industrial pollution monitoring. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) assessed these units' Online Continuous Emission Monitoring System (OCEMS) data availability below 85%. One unit had zero data for seven days, while another had only 18.15%. The CPCB has directed the concerned pollution control boards to take immediate action to close or seal these industries. CPCB directs that the seal will be lifted only after improvement. According to the CPCB list, this assessment is based on seven days of data between September 17th and 23rd. Data availability at six Rohtak units ranged from zero to 81.85%. The situation was particularly concerning for two of these units, where data availability from the monitoring system was less than 20%. The concerned officials have been directed to continuously monitor industrial emissions and ensure compliance with pollution control regulations. The action was taken for improvement in the monitoring system.
