I am very excited to share with you this week on Homespun Americana artists who will be performing next week at Rooster Walk 16. I will be attending the festival for my first time and I am so looking forward to the return for myself of music in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rooster Walk is a very intimate festival just outside Axton, Virginia nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Tune in this week 2 PM central time for the Rooster Walk edition of Homespun Americana. If you make it to the festival next week, keep your eyes out for the WWOZ flags flying in the campground. I'll see ya on the radio at 2pm Sunday May 17.

Tipitina's is back with their Free Fridays summer concert series! Doors are open to everyone 21+ at this weekly Friday event, happening May 22 through September 4. Doors are 8pm; show at 9pm.

There are times when reality is harder to believe than fiction... and more inspirational. If you were to hear a tale of a Dominican priest in Hammond, Louisiana who receives royalties for one of the biggest international hits of the early '60s, you might assume that tale was a tall one. But it isn't!

As we continue to hope for an end to this long hot summer, fall festival season is kicking off. It's time for Suwannee Roots Revival at The Spirit of Suwannee Music Park. Although the festival is in Florida, this annual October event always seems to bring the first cool evenings of the season. We can't always predict the weather, but we can predict a magnificent weekend at The Suwannee Roots Revival, which takes place this year October 8-11. Headliners this year are Trampled By Turtles, Leftover Salmon, Sam Bush, Eddie 9V, Shinyribs, Peter Rowan and Shadowgrass. They'll be joined by festival regulars Donna the Buffalo, Verlon Thompson, Mosier Brothers, Jim Lauderdale, The Grass is Dead and many more.
