EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Enjoy today’s beautiful weather while it lasts — a dramatic shift is coming. After an extended dry stretch, conditions will change dramatically Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias approach the area, bringing gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for severe thunderstorms.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Good news: the remnants of Hurricane Isaias have shifted east of the viewing area. While the system is moving away, we’ll still feel some effects through Saturday with gusty winds and scattered showers, but severe weather is not expected.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - October is about to feel a lot more like August. Record-challenging heat will dominate Monday and Tuesday as warm southwestern winds push temperatures into the upper 80s to low 90s — potentially tying or breaking records set in 1989.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - After two days of record-challenging heat that pushed temperatures to 90 degrees — breaking Monday’s record and nearly matching Tuesday’s — a dramatic shift is underway. Storms arrive today with the potential for damaging winds and minor flooding, followed by another round Thursday before a sharp cooldown arrives Friday with gusty winds and much cooler air.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 8am this morning with visibility dropping to just ¼ of a mile — plan for extra commute time. The good news: Wednesday’s beneficial one-inch rain is easing dry conditions and helping lift area burn bans. However, the threat for severe weather remains today and tonight for areas north of Interstate 64, with damaging winds and a spin-up tornado threat for several northern counties. A major cooldown with breezy winds follows Friday.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Autumn is making a dramatic statement. The sharpest cold front of the season is punching through, dramatically cutting temperatures nearly 30 degrees from the lower 80s on Thursday. By Sunday morning, portions of the viewing area will experience the first frost of the season as lows drop into the mid-30s — the coldest temperatures since May 3rd. If you have tender plants or gardens, now is the time to prepare.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Today begins with a chilly start and patchy fog early, but conditions improve quickly. Sunny and warmer weather takes over with high temperatures reaching 77 degrees — a pleasant rebound from the frost we saw Sunday morning.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A stretch of pleasant fall weather continues this week with sunny skies and high temperatures hovering slightly above normal in the upper 60s to mid-70s. However, the extended dry forecast is worsening drought conditions, particularly across western Kentucky and southeast Illinois — an area that will require close monitoring in the coming days.
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Sunny skies and pleasant temperatures continue through Friday, but the extended dry pattern is deepening drought concerns across the area. We’re in the market for needed rainfall, but none is in the forecast until the middle of next week. To make matters worse, precipitation through the end of October is scheduled to run below normal — a significant concern for drought-stricken areas, particularly western Kentucky and southeast Illinois.
